Physical Manipulation

Physical Manipulation: realign your structure, restore your function.

Gentle, low-velocity manual adjustments and soft tissue work to bring your body back into alignment so your nervous system can do what it's designed to do.

What It Is

When your structure supports your health.

Physical manipulation involves the manual manipulation of bones and other soft tissues in the body to allow for posture realignment and facilitate a free-flowing nervous system. The bones in your back and neck protect the spinal cord and the nerve roots that leave the spinal cord and travel out to every organ and tissue in the body.

When the bones are compressed or not in the right position and nerve function is impaired, this can result in a range of uncomfortable symptoms. Using their hands or a small tool, your physician uses low-velocity corrective techniques to shift misaligned bones back into place. This technique is very similar to a chiropractic adjustment but done with less force, making it more accessible for people who find traditional high-velocity adjustments uncomfortable or inappropriate for their condition.

Physical manipulation may be accompanied by soft tissue work on muscles, tendons, fascia, adhesions or scar tissue, or instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques like gua sha or cupping. These additional techniques help relax hypertonic muscles, break up scar tissue and increase circulation and healing components to a symptomatic area.

When alignment is off

When the bones are compressed or misaligned and nerve function is impaired, you may experience:

Pain and stiffness
Restricted movement
Numbness or tingling
Weakness
Headaches
Shallow breathing

Gentler than a traditional adjustment

The low-velocity approach means less force, less cracking and often greater comfort. Many people who have felt uneasy about chiropractic care find physical manipulation a more approachable option that still delivers meaningful structural relief.

Long-Term Support

Structural work thrives with support.

Many patients derive long-term benefit from combining physical manipulation with complementary therapies. We can help customise an individual healing treatment plan based on your unique needs and goals, drawing on the full range of modalities available at Restored.
